GeekDeal participates in affiliate programmes. When you click a link to a retailer and buy something, we may earn a commission. You pay the same price either way. This is how the site is funded.
We do not hide this in a footer. Every deal card says, next to the call-to-action button, whether it is an “Affiliate link” (we may earn a commission) or a “Direct store link” (we earn nothing), and every page of the site carries a disclosure block above the footer links. This placement is intentional: the disclosure is adjacent to the link, not buried somewhere a reader would have to hunt for.
Under the US Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), a material connection between an endorser and a seller must be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. A commission on a purchase is a material connection. Our disclosure is placed before the link, in language a normal reader understands, without requiring a click to reveal.
We also do not present affiliate relationships as independent editorial endorsements. Where we recommend a product, the recommendation reflects our own assessment of the price and the product, and the commission does not change the ranking of the deal feed.
We apply to the programmes below. A link only carries tracking once a programme has approved us; until then it goes straight to the store.
Stores we cover without any commission: Steam and the Nintendo eShop have no affiliate programme available to us. We list their deals anyway, ranked by the same score as everything else.
Programme participation can change. A deal may appear without an active affiliate link if we could not obtain one; in that case we still cover it, because coverage is decided by the deal, not by the commission.
If we ever publish sponsored content, it is labelled as sponsored at the top of the piece and kept out of the deal feed. We do not accept payment to mark a bad deal as good.
Prices change constantly. The timestamp on each deal card tells you when we last confirmed the price and stock. If a price has moved since then, the retailer's checkout is authoritative — and we would appreciate a Report outdated click so we can re-check it.
If anything here is unclear, email editor@geekdeal.example. We would rather explain it than have you guess.
